The XG1911M380 snaps over the metal floorplate of a 7-round .380 magazine and seats it in a SIG P238 or Colt Mustang. It adds a finger rest where the extended magazine leaves bare steel, and protects the floorplate.
The XGRIP carries the 1911's grip down over the longer magazine and covers the exposed floorplate, so the extra length reads as part of the pistol. Its shape is based on the anthropometrics of the hand and wrist, with a defined place for the little finger to rest.
It is cut to seat the magazine at the right depth, and no deeper. Nothing on the pistol is drilled, cut or replaced.
