The XG1911C1 snaps over the metal floorplate of a full-size 1911 magazine and seats it in an Officers-size 1911. Its over-under finger hook gives the little finger a defined place to sit, and it covers the floorplate completely. It is meant as a permanent fit on the magazine.
The XGRIP carries the 1911's grip down over the longer magazine and covers the exposed floorplate, so the extra length reads as part of the pistol. Its shape is based on the anthropometrics of the hand and wrist, with a defined place for the little finger to rest.
It is cut to seat the magazine at the right depth, and no deeper. Nothing on the pistol is drilled, cut or replaced. For magazines with a metal floorplate. Magazines with a plastic floorplate take the XG1911C2.
